NOTICE

Due to the typhoon of October 12, 2019, Hakone received more than 35 inches, 900mm of rain in just 24 hours, the most for a single day in Japan since record-keeping was begun in 1974.

This heavy rain caused the damage to the hiking trail and road.

Some trails are completely closed now. All other trails are also still in danger of deep puddles, fallen trees, rock slides and soil sloughing. Opened trails are wet and muddy in large area.

The Meteorological Agency warns that even a small amount of rain could trigger more landslides. Please keep updated with the latest weather information.

Hekone visitor center is open.
